Columbus was right: the world is not flat. In fact, it’s
not even round. Consequently all images taken of it suffer from perspective and
terrain distortion and thus cannot be easily or cleanly fused to one another or
to maps. Orthorectification converts each image from its natural perspective to
a common ideal perspective and in so doing offers many advantages
Not A Trivial Process
Orthorectification is very computation intensive. Even with the latest CPUs orthorectification of a single high-resolution image can require hours to perform. Camera resolutions and frame rates are increasing, putting even more strain on an already slow process.
The Cardio Logic MojaveTM Geo100M Workstation orthorectifies QuickBird and OrbView imagery 10 times faster than the best commercially available software. It supports the incorporation of ground control points (GCPs) for improved geolocation accuracy, terrain model management and batch processing mass production of orthorectified images in NITF or GeoTIFF format.
The MojaveTM Geo100M processes images 10 to 30 times faster than other commercially available software. Shown below are the times required to orthorectify a 1.6 GB image (27552 x 30564 x 16 bits) on a 3.2 GHz Intel Xeo CPU

Simplicity
User friendly interface
The MojaveTM graphical user interface features the ultimate in simplicity: a selected image can be orthorectified with one mouse click since all requisite parameter fields are automatically assigned default values, allowing operators to become productive with little or no training.
Convenient turnkey system
The MojaveTM Geo100M bundles Cardio Logic’s software with hardware acceleration for super-computer performance in a turnkey system occupying only 4U of rack space. No installation of software or hardware is required.
Batch processing
The MojaveTM Geo100M orthorectifies each image based on a plain text parameter settings file that may be created using the Graphical User Interface (GUI) or by other means. Settings files may be created and saved for unattended batch processing.
Automatic terrain library management
The MojaveTM Geo100M can automatically search a terrain model library and retrieve and assemble the appropriate terrain model files for each image.
Ground Control tools
Direct reading of ground control point coordinates and reference image pathnames from text files is supported. Reference images are automatically displayed along with image to be orthorectified.
Quality
Accuracy
Images can be aligned to ground control points to improve geolocation.
Accuracy has been reviewed by Digital Globe and found to be comparable to their processes.
Resampling
Supports nearest neighbor, bilinear filtering, and cubic convolution.
