INSPIRE Data and Service Sharing Draft Implementing Rule

The INSPIRE Drafting Team on Implementing Rules for Data and Service Sharing has finalised a first draft of the Implementing Rules (D.4.9), which is now available for comments from registered SDICS and LMOs.

The goal of this document is to define harmonised conditions for the access to spatial data sets and services provided from the Member States to the institutions and bodies of the Community. Each provision is followed by a commentary. The document also contains a section with guidelines. Comments on this draft are restricted to Spatial Data Interest Communities and Legally Mandated Organisations ONLY, and should be submitted by their contact person through the established way via the INSPIRE web site. The consultation will end on 13th February 2009.

Based on all the comments received, the Data and Service Sharing Drafting Team will issue a new version of the Implementing Rules for submission to the European Commission which will propose a final draft to be submitted for opinion to the INSPIRE regulatory committee in 2009.

INSPIRE Data Specifications testing

The call for participation for testing INSPIRE Data Specifications for Annex I data themes was very successful with over 76 organisations and communities stating their willingness to join the testing process

The testing of the draft INSPIRE Data Specifications is an integral part of data specification development, and supplies important information about the technical feasibility and the cost-benefit considerations. This information will be used to shape the Implementing Rules on interoperability of spatial data sets and services, as required in Art 7(1) of the Directive. The Implementing Rules, once adopted, will become law in the EU Member States.
