Welcome to SCANSCAPE

We offer expert terrestrial laser scanning and surveying solutions to a wide range of environmental measurement problems relating to landscape and feature documentation, resource quantification and topographic measurement and monitoring over many scales. Our mobile technology and powerful post-processing techniques allow us to accurately measure and digitally represent landscapes and features in any environment. We also offer a range of secondary services including morphological auditing, elevation change mapping, landscape assessment and 2D and 3D flow modeling. We have considerable experience having worked on a wide range of projects in the UK, Europe and the Middle East.

Laser scanning uses a pulsed laser and time-of-flight principles to accurately measure physical surfaces in space. Each scan measures a physical scene and then digitally represents it in a relative coordinate system. Several scans from different perspectives may then be merged together to give a fully representative and accurate final model.

From the scene to the model:     An example of how a scene is represented in digital model form, in this case the River Wharfe in Yorkshire. This Particular model is comprised of data from 25 scans and contains a total of approximately 25 million data points. Merging error between scans is typically less than 0.25cm and point accuracy over the 150m reach is typically less that 1.5cm.
