High Definition Survey (HDS) is rapidly becoming an industry standard for both small and large-scale projects. Historically, the costs involved with high definition surveys were very high therefore the technology was used only on larger projects. But today, advancements in technology have made high definition surveys a viable option for projects of all sizes. HDS allows surveyors to collect vast amounts of detailed data fast. Here's how it works: A narrow beam of pulsed laser moves across the target recording millions of measurements in minutes. These scanned measurements are then displayed on a computer screen in the form of a point cloud which closely resembles a 3D model.
This advanced surveying technology adds an exciting new dimension to survey applications including as-builts, topo's, roadway, inspection, quality control, forensics, quantities, drainage structures, bridges, and more. Efficiency is a major benefit of HDS as less field time is required and repeat trips to acquire additional data are virtually eliminated.
